Squarespace Site Server v5.11.81 (http://www.squarespace.com/)http://www.scottishgypsy.com/picture/Windows%202006%20024.jpg?pictureId=508624<p>What a story.&nbsp; My older son had a field trip to Hale Farm &amp; Village last spring.&nbsp; When he got home, he begged for our family to go to the Village one day during the summer.&nbsp; Of course we couldn't pass up his suggestions and had a wonderful time learning about daily life in the 1800's.</p><p>One of the houses we visited was the Spinning and Weaving house.&nbsp; She was telling us (as she demonstrated the loom) that they raise their own sheep, gather their own wool, card and dye the wool and spin the wool fiber into yarn.&nbsp; After they make the yarn, they use it to weave rugs, place mats, and many other things for the Village homes. </p><p>I was positively intrigued by the whole process, but only saw a couple of small knitted items displayed.&nbsp; I asked&nbsp; where if they had a knitted&nbsp; Christmas&nbsp; sock and if they didn't, I'd be happy to knit one for them.&nbsp; She spun and dyed the yarn needed for the project and I knit the sock.&nbsp; The cream wool is natural lambswool.&nbsp; The green wool was dyed with onion skins and indigo but I don't know what she used to dye the red wool.&nbsp; <br /></p>http://www.scottishgypsy.com/picture/Windows%202006%20025.jpg?pictureId=508625http://www.scottishgypsy.com/picture/Windows%202006%20026.jpg?pictureId=508626http://www.scottishgypsy.com/picture/Windows%202006%20027.jpg?pictureId=508627
